Jan Kregel, Honorary President

Senior scholar at the Levy Economics Institute of Bard College and director of its Monetary Policy and Financial Structure program. Professor of development finance at Tallinn Technical University and University of Missouri at Kansas City (UMKC). Former professor of political economy at the Università degli Studi di Bologna and a past professor of international economics at Johns Hopkins University’s Paul Nitze School of Advanced International Studies, where he was also associate director of its Bologna Center from 1987 to 1990.

José Antônio Pereira de Souza, President/Executive Director

Senior Economist and Manager at Brazilian National Development Bank (BNDES). His studies are focused on Regulatory policies, innovation and competition.

Leonardo Burlamaqui, Head of Research

Associate professor of economics at the State University of Rio de Janeiro (UERJ) and a research scholar at Levy Institute of Bard College. He was formerly a senior program officer at the Ford Foundation, where he was in charge of the Reforming Global Financial Governance Initiative. His has served in various capacities at the World Intellectual Property Organization, the World Institute for Development Economics Research (Helsinki), the Institute for Developing Economies (Tokyo), and the Centre for Development and the Environment, University of Oslo. He is a former member of the board of the International J. A. Schumpeter Society (2002–06) and currently sits on the board of The Other Canon Foundation.

Matheus Vianna, Executive Coordinator

Researcher at MINDS and at the Money and Financial Systems Study Group, headquartered at IE-UFRJ. He was formerly assistant researcher at Power Sector Study Group (GESEL-UFRJ). He holds a bachelor's degree in economics from the UFRJ and is a Masters candidate at the same institution.

PhD in Sociology from New York University and from the Ecole Pratique des Hautes Etudes. Has worked in the United Nations New York, from 1977 to 1983, and has been a consultant to the UNCTAD in Geneva. Researcher in China from 1998 until 2003. Currently visiting professor at the Program in Public Policies, Strategies and Development (PPED)at UFRJ and director of the Institute for Brazil-China Studies (IBRACH).

Lori Wallach

Director of Public Citizen's Global Trade Watch since 1995. Expert on the operations and outcomes of trade policies such as NAFTA, WTO, CAFTA and more. Works closely with Congress and civil society, scholars, and activists in the U.S and developing countries to foster the growing debate about implications of different models of globalization on jobs, off-shoring, wages, the environment, public health and food safety; equality and social justice and democratically accountable governance.
